Deportee mother supports Trump’s mass deportation policy

(MENAFN) Arpineh Masihi, a devout supporter of President Donald Trump, is currently detained as an undocumented immigrant at the Adelanto detention center in California. Despite facing possible deportation, the 39-year-old says her support for Trump and his mass deportation plan remains unwavering.

“He’s doing the right thing because lots of these people don’t deserve to be here,” Arpineh told a news agency in a phone interview. “I will support him until the day I die. He’s making America great again.”

Masihi’s home in Diamond Bar, a suburban enclave east of Los Angeles, is adorned with pro-Trump memorabilia, including a prominent flag and MAGA hats. Inside, her husband, Arthur Sahakyan, struggles to hold the household together while caring for their four young children. “Our home is broken,” he said, visibly worn from the stress of her detention.

Masihi’s immigration status became complicated following a 2008 conviction for burglary and grand theft, for which she served two years in prison. Her Green Card was revoked as a result—standard procedure for such offenses—but she was permitted to stay in the U.S. due to her status as a Christian of Armenian descent from Iran. Her family argues that returning to Iran would endanger her life because of her religion.

“She can’t go back. There’s no way,” said Sahakyan, holding back tears as their young daughter played nearby.

Since her release, Masihi has transformed her life—launching a small business and raising a family in Southern California, home to the largest Iranian diaspora outside Iran. Often referred to as “Tehrangeles,” the area is now on edge as federal immigration raids increase. Though most detainees in Los Angeles are from Mexico, Department of Homeland Security reports show that immigrants from around the world—including Iran—have been swept up.

Despite her current predicament, Masihi remains loyal to Trump’s policies, even those that target immigrants like herself. Her case highlights the deep personal and political complexities surrounding immigration enforcement in today’s America.
